About Malaysia military sevice system

Some one asked me a question, when Malaysia armed force start their all volunteer service system? well I am dummy of this, so after consault I think since 1963 they establish Malaysia armed forces, it should be the answer. However I also heard that during 1990 circa, they also adopted a temporately conscript service system for training and patriotic training.
